Branches of Military Science

    • Tactics: the disposition and maneuver of units on a particular sea or battlefield.
    • Strategy: a general plan to achieve one or more long-term or overall goals under conditions of uncertainty.
    • Logistics: maintaining army supply lines with food, armaments, ammunitions, and spare parts apart from the transportation of troops themselves.

Military Operations

    • Theatre: a large area in which important military events occur that is substantially separate from other theatres.
    • Front: large area in which important military events occur that is substantially near to other large areas within a theatre.
    • Campaign: a series of operations (or battles)vrelated in time and space and aimed towards an objective or a result in the war.
    • Battle: a military engagement that is well defined in duration, area, and force commitment.
    • Skirmish: a fight with only light, relatively indecisive combat.
