- Many modern dictators justified their rule by basing it on some sort of ideology.
- Socialism and Communism have idealistic goals. The history of their actual experiences has been that they have led to dictatorships, instead.
- Democratic ideologies have changed over the years. Tribalism has trumped their principles.
