Topic 3 – Session 5 – Big Civilization<\/p>\n

Also nicknamed \u201cThe Magnificent\u201d, he ruled the Ottoman Empire from 1520 to 1566. During these years the empire reached the height of its power and cultural significance. The Ottomans were on the offense in the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and The Ukraine. Important islands were captured and raids made into southern Europe. Much of the Middle East not yet under Ottoman control was annexed.<\/p>\n
